Divine Expedition Training – Part of Global Training Network (GTN)

Sharon and have just returned from Global Training Network’s annual leadership gathering. The first several days I was part of the Executive Team meetings, the next few days more GTN leaders gathered, and the last day-and-a-half, staff member Hud McWilliams led us all in a workshop on spiritual development. It was an inspiring and challenging time. Following is a bit more about Global Training Network:

GTN: THE NEED

6.3 Out of 7.3 Billion People

Out of 7.3 billion people on planet earth, 6.3 billion live in the Majority World, which is the geographic area of Africa, Asia, Latin America, and Oceania.

70,000 Out of 77,000 Per Day

Out of 77,000 people coming to Christ per day in the world, 70,000 are in the majority world.

80% Need Training

While at least 75% of the world’s Christians are non-Western, living in the Majority World, 80% of Majority World pastors have no formal biblical training.

1 in 450,000 are Trained

In the U.S. there is 1 trained pastor per 250 people. Around the world, however, there is 1 trained pastor per 450,000 people. GTN’s foremost goal is to change this reality.

GTN: THE STORY

After 25 years serving in the pastorate Paul and Lisa Madson began the ministry of Global Training Network (GTN)  to help meet the growing global need for pastoral and leadership training throughout the Majority World. Paul’s awareness of this need began in the late 1990’s via several international trips to do pastoral training. After much prayer and consultation Paul and Lisa formed Global Training Network in 2004 in order to train, equip and encourage pastors, church planters and Christian leaders around the world.

Since 2004, GTN has grown to a staff of over 100, the majority of which have served in full-time pastoral ministry for 25 years or more. Sharon and I, Phil and Laina Graf, and Hud and Nancy McWilliams joined GTN shortly after interviewing with the GTN Board in 2011. We have since developed the Divine Expedition under GTN to equip leaders to multiply viral, missional, disciple-making, leadership-developing, church-planting movements.

GTN: THE IMPACT

Since 2004 God has Used GTN to:

Train, equip, and deepen over 220,000 pastors and leaders around the world.

Teach and serve an estimated 21.3 million people through the pastors trained by GTN (each pastor serves a church of approximately 100).

Moreover, existing churches have been transformed, new churches have been planted, and people within those congregations have been equipped and empowered to train, disciple, and reach others by the power of Jesus Christ.
