LEAVING ON A JET PLANE…TO UGANDA

I (Linus) am about to leave for Uganda for our next round of “On-Expedition” training. I have been working intensely to edit our four On-Expedition training manuals. Each time we lead one of our four phase workshops we edit that training manual to reflect the indigenous leaders input, as they progress from Participants, to Contributors, to Co-Presenters, to Lead Presenters. We are on our 14th version of several of the manuals.

Our Ugandan trainees are now Phase 1 Lead-Presenters. Here is a photo of the training they just led on their own in Entebbe. Phase 1 Entebbe

Twenty-three pastors were Participants. Very exciting!

On this current trip, our Ugandan trainees will be Phase 2 Lead-Presenters (with us coaching), Phase 3 Co-Presenters (along with us), and Phase 4 Contributors (with us leading).

“LOVE LIVES HERE”

Meanwhile, Sharon and I have been engaging in a quarterly Relationship Workshop conducted at Laina and Phil Graf’s home. Somewhere between 50-75 mostly young people come for a Friday night, all day Saturday event. Many are newlywed or soon to be, and don’t know a lot about what it takes to have a healthy marriage (or a healthy relationship for that matter).

The photo here  is of Phil and Laina with main speaker and Global Training Network friend and co-laborer, Hud McWilliams.

That’s Hud in the mirror with Laina and Phil on both sides of the sign on the mantle. One of the couples attending is in the foreground, as Laina was making a comment. (Okay, I’m not the best photographer, but thought is was a great shot.)

NO BS BS

Another thing I (Linus) do when not traveling is to lead a Bible study with a group of men in our area. We call it the NO BS BS, as we share lives, seek to go deep in to God’s word, and pray for each other. For the past several years we have been working through the Old Testament prophets, one of the most challenging, yet spiritually invigorating studies I have ever done. In addition to preparing to lead the study, I write up the notes and send them out after each gathering. Let me know if you would like to be added to my NO BS BS list. You will be thereafter a “NO BS BSer”.

EYE ON THE PRIZE

So, off I/we go to Uganda. Pray for our trip (August 24-May 9), and pray that God uses all we do: On-Expedition training, Relationship Workshops, and NO BS Bible Studies.

Sometime I feel like we are zooming in the fast lane—but we continue to keep our eyes on the prize, as Daniel did:

“As for you, go your way till the end. You will rest, and then at the end of the days you will rise to receive your allotted inheritance” (Dan 12:13).

Thank you for partnering with us in prayer, friendship, support.

Because of His great grace,

P.S. This is one of my favorite shots of Sharon going “incognito.”
