85 MEN REGAINING THEIR HEARTS FOR GOD
For the past several days, I have been together with 85 men as part of an Adventures of the Heart Expedition led by pastor friend Reese Bricken and son, Linus Jr.

The emphasis of the time together is on discovering who God made us to be. The Adventures of the Heart website captures the purpose, saying:
Adventures of the Heart is about helping men learn to live from their hearts so they can live from their God given desires and passions, discover the unique call of Christ on their lives, and engage in God’s great battle of reaching people with the message of grace and forgiveness found in Jesus Christ.
The sessions are biblical, real, and challenging, a perfect match for the men who are part of the NO BS BS (Bible Study) I lead on Friday mornings.
THE LARGER STORY
One of the sessions is entitled “The Larger Story.”
Henry David Thoreau wrote,
“The mass of men lead lives of quiet desperation.”
Another way to say that is “Most men (and women) live from smaller stories. They live as though here and now is all there is.”
Adventures of the Heart lays out the Larger Biblical Story that God invites us into. It starts by connecting in an intimate relationship with God through Jesus.

Understanding and experiencing this is a game changer, or I should say, a life changer (by the way, that’s what our GTN Divine Expedition training is about).
THOUGHTFUL SESSIONS, REFLECTION, AND FREE TIME
Sessions include meaningful application and reflection plus time to spend alone to ask God to speak to us (He does)—with Scripture as the framework.
In the free time there are activities like zip line, rock climbing, and more. One of the offerings was an introduction to Jiu Jitsu. I didn’t participate but enjoyed watching a black belt master coach lead men in basics of the martial art.
Those participating included my grandson Cayden (a beginner) and Linus Jr (who is quite accomplished). Here are a couple of photos of them on the mat:

NO BS BSERS AND FRIENDS
This is the 3rd year that men from the NO BS BS have attended. Each year more have come and begun bringing others. Here is a photo of the men and those they influenced to attend.

After the final session, some of us gathered and shared how the Expedition impacted us. One of the men who considers himself to normally be skeptical said, “It was persuasive, compelling, and inspiring.”
It was for me (again) as well.
Thanks for being part of the Larger Story with us.
