Angels Rejoicing … I Am Too

“In the same way, I tell you, there is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents” (Luke 15:10).

REJOICING FOR ADVENTURES OF THE HEART

I just returned from an Adventures of the Heart Expedition with 130 other men. It was a mix of sessions about connecting our hearts back to God, and the Battle we are in, the adventure God has for us, and the beauty we (men) are to pursue and love.”

Here’s is how Ephesians 6:12-13 puts the battle part:

“For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.”

It was a powerful Thursday evening to Sunday morning time together. The sessions were led by long time friend Reese Bricken and son Linus Jr.  There was also a question and answer session fielded by a panel.

Q&A with Chad, Linus Jr., Reese, and Dr. Jeff

In addition to the sessions, there were free time activities like shotgun shooting, rope climbing, and zip lining, and times of reflection.

Ready, aim, fire
Up in the air.
Look closely: finding a quiet spot to hear from God.

130 MEN, INCLUDING 5 NO BS BSERS, REJOICING

The time together was stimulating, inspiring, and life changing. I was grateful that four of my Friday morning NO BS BS friends joined me. We reflected on lies and agreements that distort who we are and who God created us to be. We then walked through what God says about us in Scripture, and in solitude listened to what Jesus thinks of us,  juxtaposed to the lies we often have in our heads and hearts. It was powerful.

SOME REASONS WHY I WAS REJOICING

I am rejoicing is that, in addition to my son being one of the co-leaders of this life-transforming event, four of my NO BS BS friends shared this experience with me.

NO BS BSERS: Joe, Linus Sr., Dr. Sharo, Scott, and Gary

Even more, I am rejoicing that my son-in-law and co-Divine Expedition leader, Phil, was there with a group of his friends, and my grandson Cayden drove up with Dr. Sharo and me.

Son-in-law, grandson, and son.
HERE’S WHY THE ANGELS ARE REJOICING (AND I WAS TOO)

Our grandson Cayden attended every session and connected with a lot of the other men there. He said it was nothing like he expected. The Adventures of the Heart sessions changed his view of what it meant to be a Christian. As a result, Linus Jr and his friend Ryan met with Cayden and Ryan’s nephew Dominique, explained the Gospel, and both of these nephews (Cayden and Dominique, both pictured below) opened their hearts to Jesus .

I shot this at the beginning of the expedition with both Cayden and Dominique closest to me.

I am guessing that, since Scripture tells us that there is rejoicing in the presence of the angels over one sinner who repents, Cayden’s grandmother Sharon was rejoicing too. She prayed for each of our children and grandchildren regularly for years before she went to Heaven. I am visualizing that at the very moment Linus Jr was sharing the Gospel with Cayden, some angels yelled, “Sharon Morris, come over here and watch this answer to your prayers!” Such rejoicing.

Cayden’s mom and four aunts who were together while we were in the mountains and were praying for us, and sent me this photo.

Five sisters rejoicing.

“But we had to celebrate and be glad, because this brother (son, grandson, nephew) of yours was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found” (Luke 15:32).

May you be able to celebrate over and over again as you persevere and pray for those you love.

We’re in it for the long game. This one took 22 years.

Rejoicing with and for you,

Linus
