On Expedition with 9 Grandsons

WELL, NOT ALL ACTUALLY GRANDSONS

Five are actual grandsons (Colin and Mason Swick, Kelton and Branson Graf, and Cayden Garcia), three are married to granddaughters (Alex Roth, JP Ram, and Parkher Murphy), and one is a grand nephew (John Stephens). I consider them all grandsons, however.

ADVENTURES OF THE HEART

The occasion for our gathering was the Adventures of the Heart (AOTH) expedition in the San Bernardino Mountains, led by friend Reese Bricken and son Linus Jr.

Adventures of the Heart is about “helping men learn to live from their hearts so they can live from their God given desires and passions, discover the unique call of Christ on their lives, and engage in God’s great battle of reaching people with the message of grace and forgiveness found in Jesus Christ.”

Reese and Linus Jr (middle in photo above) led powerful session after powerful session. The emphasis can be summed up in one the songs we sang: “Jesus Have It All” (by Jeremy Riddle).

Here is a photo of Reese leading a session:

NOT JUST GRANDSONS; NO BS BSERS TOO

When I am not traveling and training with Global Traiing Network, I lead a weekly Bible study that we call the NO BS BS. Several of the men who are part of the study also attended the Adventures of the Heart expedition with us.

They are pictured below. Not pictured here is another NO BS BSER, Vince Leong who attended with his brother, son, son’s father-in-law, and his son’s father in law’s other son-in-law.

NO BS BSERS Scott, Sharo, Joe, Denny, Anders, and me.
ONE LAST PHOTO…MY GREATEST HIGHLIGHT

The expedition included times of reflection and free time activities like hiking, rope climbing, soccer, water sport activities, and more. It was exciting to me to see grandsons connect and bond with each other, and well as deepen spiritually.

At the end of the time, my nine grandsons, friends (and NO BS BSERS) Doctor Sharo, and Vince and Vince’s clan gathered together for lunch at a near by restaurant. While lunch was being prepared, each of the men pictured below shared a highlight of how God spoke to them and deepened their relationship with Christ and each other. That was my greatest highlight!

JOYFUL AND THANKFUL

I couldn’t be more joyful and thankful. In the words of the Psalm 71-16-19,

I will come and proclaim your mighty acts, O Sovereign LORD;

I will proclaim your righteousness, yours alone.

Since my youth, O God, you have taught me,

and to this day I declare your marvelous deeds.

Even when I am old and gray,

do not forsake me, O God,

till I declare your power to the next generation,

your might to all who are to come.

Your righteousness reaches to the skies, O God,

you who have done great things.

Who, O God, is like you?

So grateful to be On Expedition with Jesus, family, and friends,

Grandpa/Papa/Friend Linus
