YOU DIDN’T ASK, BUT THEY DID
I was asked by a supporting church to give an overview of our/my ministry with Global Training Network to present at a missions emphasis Sunday, so decided to give a summary of what Sharon and I have done along the way as well as what I am doing now. Here it is:
UNIVERSITY AND GLOBAL BASKETBALL MINISTRY
Linus and Sharon Morris met and married in Portland, Oregon and Linus became a Christian through Campus Crusade’s (now called Cru) when a student at Oregon State University (OSU). Upon graduation, Linus turned down engineering job offers, and Linus and Sharon then worked in student ministry for next sixteen years at Northwestern University and U.C.L.A.
The Morrises helped co-found Christian Associates International (CAI, now called Communitas), a student outreach and training ministry in Southern California.
Linus also helped found and traveled extensively in the summers with the News Release Basketball team, sharing the good news of Jesus in Asia, Africa, and Europe.
CHURCH PLANTING IN EUROPE FOR 25 YEARS AND TRAINING LEADERS WITH GLOBAL TRAINING NETWORK
In 1980 the Morris family moved to Europe where they started churches first in Geneva and later in Amsterdam. In the 25 years that followed, Linus led CAI as its president in launching 50 churches, primarily in Europe.
Linus and Sharon joined the staff of Global Training Network (GTN) in 2011 to begin training networks of leaders in the Majority World. Linus serves as the GTN Executive Director of Strategic Multiplication and, along with son-in-law Phil Graf, developed the Divine Expedition Training.
The purpose of the Divine Expedition training is to equip leaders in the Majority World to multiply national movements that reach people for Christ, make disciples, develop leaders, and reproduce churches. They have now initiated trainings in Uganda, Brazil, Nepal, Ethiopia, El Salvador, Guatemala, Mozambique, Nicaragua, Sierra Leone, and Cuba. Here’s one example:
TRAINING (AND NATIONAL TV) IN GUATEMALA
ALONG THE WAY
Linus holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Oregon State University, and along the way obtained a Master’s Degree in Christian Studies from Regent College, both a Masters of Divinity and a Doctor of Ministry in Theology from Fuller Theological Seminary, and a second Doctor of Ministry in Transformational Leadership jointly recognized by Bakke Graduate University and Asia Theological Seminary.
A highlight of training was Sharon and Linus’ study under Francis and Edith Schaeffer at L’Abri Christian Fellowship in Huemoz Switzerland. Linus also wrote The High Impact Church, and along with his son Linus Jr, co-authored The Divine Expedition: Where Are You in the Book of Romans.
In addition to traveling and training globally, Linus is working on an apologetics project entitled, “Big Issues that We Face Today.”
Linus can be contacted at linus@onexpedition.org. His ministry website is www.onexpedition.org, and the GTN website is www.globaltrainingnetwork.org.
OK, THAT’S WHAT WE HAVE BEEN (AND I AM STILL) UP TO.
Thanks for listening. Thanks for partnering.
Our GTN Divine Expedition Training is multiplying. In every season (above) we have seen people come to faith in Jesus, grow as disciples, leaders developed, and churches multiplied.
By His grace, there is more to come.
With gratitude in our Savior, Jesus,
Linus for the Divine Expedition team

Cheering you on! Love you dearly!
